Doors Shut

Doors of the past shut one by one

There’s no looking back,

The future’s begun.

Forgetting the pain,

My heart is restored

I’m healed and I’m whole,

The work of the Lord.

So thankful am I

And amazed at His power

For I did not know when,

The day or the hour...

That I would feel strong

And know in my heart

That you were in charge

Even right from the start.

You knew what would happen

Yet you allowed me the choice.

You walked by my side

Did I miss your voice?

Still and small

Sometimes when you talk

So quiet and gentle

As through life we walk.

Only the best

Is what you want for me.

So grateful and thankful

Even when I can’t see.

Humbled I am

As I acknowledge your grace

Always upon me

No matter the place.

You freed me to love

Again without fear

Knowing you’re there

Constantly near...

... To catch me again

Should I happen to fall.

Right by my side

You see me through all...

Through life’s heartache

And stumbling blocks

Put in the way

To build up the stocks...

Of faith and of strength

Perseverance as well.

Longsuffering and grace

And stories to tell.

I believe in your goodness

That your promises stand

No matter what happens

At sea or on land.

I surrender my life

I belong only to You.

Redeemer and friend

And Saviour too.
